“Boudoir and being sexy doesn’t necessarily always mean less clothes… Clothing, lingerie, or implied nudity can all be sexy. The key is to plan your boudoir outfits around your comfort level. Bring old favorites that have been sitting in your closet, pick up a new piece. Whatever the strategy: the goal is to wear items that make you feel beautiful. You’ll look sexiest when you feel confident.” -Unknown
Important things to consider for your upcoming shoot:
Cosmetics
If you’ve opted for professional hair and makeup application, making sure you arrive makeup free is always a great idea. Cosmetics for portraits are definitely not required, but in the event you you’d prefer to wear them, why not go all out? I always recommend celebrating and taking the opportunity to truly pamper yourself for this amazing experience. Whether you decide to include professional makeup services in your package or not, including those lashes and a sexy lip definitely helps make the photos spectacular.
Hair
Right before portraits is definitely not the time to try anything crazy (unless that’s what you’re going for). By not making any drastic changes (if you have a close cropped cut, get it freshened up by your normal stylist or barber), you’re likely to feel more comfortable and relaxed when preparing for portraits. Longer hair looks great with a slight curl in it and framing the face while a shorter do looks amazing with a bit of shag to it. Bring a brush/comb in your bag because if there’s even a breeze, you may need it! Don’t plan on wearing a cap of any kind (unless we’ve discussed it) because I will likely ask you to take it off at some point to mix up the style or for a close up moment. If you plan on wearing a wig or extensions, please make sure everything is secured and edges are laid. Nothing worse than lifting lace!
Lingerie
Please be aware, I will photograph you in as much or as little as you want! Here are some great ideas that make for a super fun session:
- Cozy sweater
- Silky or lacy robe
- Bodysuit’s
- Birthday suit
The most important point is to wear something that makes you feel awesome! Whatever you choose, try it on a few times and make sure you like how it fits.
As fun as all of these options are, plan on bringing a well-fitting bra and panty set as a staple.
Grooming
When preparing for your session, make sure you arrive fully prepared!
- Nails clipped/filed neatly and clean or done (fingers & toes)
- Either making sure your nails are freshly done, or completely clean of polish is a great rule of thumb
- Skin moisturized
- LIP BALM IS ESSENTIAL!!!
- If you plan on removing any body hair (not required at all!), make sure you do it leaving enough time for any redness, razor-burn, or swelling to disappear.
- Make sure your feet are clean. Nothing worse than gorgeous pictures and dirty feet.
Food/Drink
In the week leading up to your appointment, here’s a few tips that might help you look and feel your best:
- Drink plenty of water and avoid excess alcohol/caffeine.
- Don’t starve yourself! Just avoid large meals the day before and the day of watching your starchy foods and cruciferous veggies (like broccoli).
By eating right and staying hydrating you’ll stay energized and excited without the run-down, gassy feeling!
Plan on wearing loose-fitting clothing to your appointment as tight or fitted clothing will leave indentations on your skin and show up in the photos.
If you plan on a few outfits, wear the loosest fitting ones first!
Shoes
Shoes are one area that is often easily forgotten, make sure to include a pair of your favorite heals, they’ll make the muscles in your legs pop which gives for some amazing definition.
